Initial Contact - Interview Set-Up

Take care in selecting the individual you want to interview, in conducting an objective and thorough interview, in processing the data, and in following up what is learned.  If done carefully, an interview can be used to great benefit by a genealogist.  Interviews are a great way to stimulate interest and excitement in your family history research project and to get other relatives involved in research assignments.

The interview process is divided into 3 stages:

  1. the initial contact,
  2. the interview and
  3. analyzing the interview
