A number of the New Brunswick daily and weekly newspapers have been microfilmed by the PANB and these reels are available on interlibrary loan.  Genealogists can check the Subject Guide to Microfilm that has a listing of 3,000 newspaper microfilms.  To see a complete listing of all New Brunswick newspapers the family historian can consult New Brunswick Newspaper Directory 1783-1988 as well as The Union List of Canadian Newspapers in Canadian Libraries.

Over eighty volumes of birth, marriage and death data for the years 1785 to the 1890's has been extracted and printed in the Vital Statistics from New Brunswick Newspapers by Daniel Johnson.  Early New Brunswick newspaper obituaries were brief and lengthy notices did not appear until the last half of the 19th century and only a small number of births were recorded. The volumes can be used at the PANB.
